What warranties does Kia offer on new vehicles? Kia's new vehicle warranty program includes a 5-year/60,000-mile basic limited warranty, a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, a 5-year/100,000-mile limited anti-perforation warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile roadside assistance, a 10-year/100,000-mile EV System Warranty, and a 10-year/100,000-mile EV Battery Coverage.
What does the basic warranty cover? The basic limited warranty covers all vehicle components against factory defects or manufacturer-related damages, excluding certain wear-and-tear components such as air and fluid filters and spark plugs1.
What does the powertrain warranty cover? The powertrain warranty covers defects with the engine, transaxle, axle, transmission, differential, and propeller shafts2.
Is the warranty transferable to a second owner? Yes, the Kia warranty is transferable to the purchaser of a Certified Pre-Owned Kia.
Does Kia cover EVs and hybrids separately? Kia's EV System Warranty covers key electric drivetrain components — including the electric motor, high voltage battery, electric power control unit, and on-board charger — for 10 years or 100,000 miles from the date of first service3.
What is NOT covered by the warranty? The warranty does not cover maintenance items such as oil changes, filters, tires, belts, and brakes. If your vehicle suffers from external damage while driving down I-95, it’s also excluded. Kia does not usually cover weather damage from drives to City Lake Park either. Floods, acts of God, and vehicles that have been tampered with will also not be repaired under warranty.
Does the warranty include roadside assistance? Yes. Kia's roadside assistance coverage lasts 5 years or 60,000 miles, so you can get towed to our Service Center or another place any time of day at no charge4.
What about rust and corrosion coverage? Kia's anti-perforation warranty covers rust-through situations caused by factory defects for 5 years or 100,000 miles but excludes rust or corrosion, such as damage typically caused by hail, stones, sand, and salt5.
When does the warranty period begin? Kia warranties begin when you bring your vehicle in for its first service. “ If you are in the Raleigh area, this is the KIA dealer you need to go to. It's likely an hour drive for you so it's not far. My wife and I visited all the ones in or near Raleigh and their customer service was terrible. Also they charge ridiculous add ons and other fees, especially if it's a new vehicle thats in demand. We bought a 2026 Carnival hybrid yesterday and the experience here was so good i'm actually floored. I HATE GOING TO DEALERS. Our sales person was Michael Battle, and we also worked with Charles and Betty in finance. Michael was very responsive and located the exact color combo. I asked questions and he got all the answers I need very quickly. Incredibly nice guy. We sat down with Charles next and he helped get paperwork together and then he helped my wife get the vehicle set up with her phone. He is one of the nicest people I have ever met at a dealership.
